WINE

I put the Bogle wines on sale this week and will have many of them open on Friday. Stop in and taste Bogle Chardonnay-Both critics and wine lovers know that Bogle Chardonnay is a terrific value. I have a couple of amazing white wines in the store that I highly encourage you to try-

I've been surprising folks with samples at the counter all week long and the reactions have further convinced me that this is one you all have to try. I have it stacked by the register. RECIPE

Tuscan Butter Salmon


Ingredients

2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

4 (6-oz) salmon fillets, patted dry with paper towels

kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

3 tbsp. unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 1/2 c. halved cherry tomatoes

2 c. baby spinach

1/2 c. heavy cream

1/4 c. Parmesan

1/4 c. chopped herbs (such as basil and parsley), plus more for garnish

Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)


Directions

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Season salmon all over with salt and pepper. When oil is shimmering but not smoking, add salmon skin-side up and cook until deeply golden, about 6 minutes. Flip over and cook 2 minutes more. Transfer to a plate.

Reduce heat to medium and add butter. When butter has melted, stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add cherry tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Cook until tomatoes are beginning to burst then add spinach and cook until spinach is beginning to wilt.

Stir in heavy cream, parmesan and herbs and bring mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce is slightly reduced, about 3 minutes.

Return salmon back to skillet and spoon over sauce. Simmer until salmon is cooked through, about 3 minutes more.

Garnish with more herbs and squeeze lemon on top before serving.


BEER

Labor Day weekend calls for good beer and many of you have been asking for Oktoberfest so we are answering the call!

On Friday our friend Nick will be back with three Oktoberfest beers open-

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest. Each year, they partner with a different German brewer to explore the roots of Germany’s famous Oktoberfest beers. This year, they've collaborated with Germany’s Brauhaus Miltenberger, whose approach to the classic style has long been admired. The result is a festival beer true to their style—deep golden in color with deceptively rich malt flavor and balanced by traditional German-grown whole-cone hops.


Brooklyn Oktoberfest-When Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria wanted to celebrate his wedding engagement in 1810, he did what any good Bavarian prince would – he threw a beer festival. Both the festival and the special beer served there became known as Oktoberfest. Brewed from the finest German malt and hops, Brooklyn Oktoberfest is true to the original style, full bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and a light, brisk hop bitterness.


Dominion Oktoberfest- The decidedly malty flavor comes from a generous portion of Vienna Malts. The maltiness is balanced by German and Czech Republic noble hops for dryness. The balance between the malt and the hops and the long, cold (30 degrees F) maturation process make this an exceptionally drinkable beer.


I know he is opening other beer as well,but it's a surprise, you will just have to stop in and check out the tasting between 4-7pm.All of the beer open will be on sale at one dollar off each pack.


SPIRITS


I have invited the Painted Stave folks here for a tasting of their spirits on Friday between 5-8 pm. They will be tasting

Diamond State Straight Bourbon Whiskey–Their high rye bourbon is distilled from a mash of 66% local corn, 26% rye and 8% malted barley and then aged in 30gal oak barrels for at least two years.

Candy Manor Gin-Western style dry gin with strong note of lavender, sweet goldenrod and lemon-balm to compliment traditional flavors from juniper, coriander, angelica, and orris root.

Scarlett Cranberry Vodka-Made once a year from locally harvested cranberries, this vodka has the tart bite of a fresh cranberry. Only a few hundred bottles made each year.

Diamond State Straight Rye-a Maryland Style Rye Whiskey, distilled from a mash of 70% rye, 25% corn, and 5% malted barley.

All of these spirits have been taste-tested and highly approved by the staff here at the store. We hope you like them as well!
