WINE
I decided to put a few organic wines in the spotlight this week-
Goru Verde Monastrell is one of the best values in a red already and is getting massive points-90 and above-. This is a fat, juicy Monastrell from Spain with good structure and balance that has tons of figgy cherry fruit, lots of spice and a nice finish, all-in-all, a real standout. And it's organic! Priced very nicely at $8.99 this week-what a value!
Bodegas Los Frailes is a family-run single Estate in Pago situated in Valencia in the south-west province of the same name, 80kms inland at 600-700m above sea level, high up in the valley known as ‘Els Alforins’.They re-organised the vineyards in 1999, giving priority to the indigenous Monastrell, returned to methods inherited from traditional agriculture and have been dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming ever since, one of the pioneers in Spain. Their 165 hectare estate has 130 hectares of vineyard, the rest is almond and olive trees and Mediterranean forest, intensifying the diversity in the plant world. Los Frailes has also introduced into their vineyards bees, sheep and chickens. This Monastrell is blended with30% Garnacha. Ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, raspberry, blueberry and violet. On the palate, this dry, full-bodied, red blend echoes flavors suggested on the nose coupled with velvety, ripe, medium-bodied tannins and a nice long finish.A substantial red blend that showcases ripe black fruit and body. All for only $11.99.
The white organic wines I am opening hail from the Northwest- Montinore Estates Riesling-both the Sweet Reserve and the Almost Dry will be on sale for a very nice price of only $13.99 each instead of $18.00.Nearly 10% of the Biodynamic vineyard in the Willamette Valley is planted to Riesling. Always last to harvest, this fruit brings out the naturally occurring aromatic components of the variety. The Sweet Reserve Riesling has tropical aromas of candied pineapple, passion fruit, lychee and flowers that take the senses on a sunny holiday. The palate bursts with green apple, grilled peaches and freshly grated lemon zest. While this wine is plush and filled with mid-palate sweetness, the finish is lifted, bright and clean. The Almost Dry Riesling is fresh and flavorful. Tropical aromas of exotic starfruit and mango swirl from the glass with notes of juicy honeydew and a whisper of white musk. Ripe tangerine, stone fruit, and key lime flavors are scented with mace and a hint of flintiness. Bright citrus and floral notes balance perfectly with a hint of sweetness and clean finish.I love Riesling with food, it's one of my favorites with spicy or cheesy foods-you should try it!
All of these and more will be open on Friday between 2-7pm.

BEERErdinger Octoberfest is the beer of the week-This seasonal beer offers a synergistic combination of two classic German styles, Oktoberfest and wheat beer; a surprising alliance that works very well together.Cloudy body with some amber hints. The head is frothy, pleasantly white and with a soft texture. Lacing starts with a series of rings but soon breaks into abstract art as the glass progresses. Residual carbonation is very lively. The wheat aroma with a fruit and clove hint combines with a strong malty flavour at the back . ERDINGER Oktoberfest blends the advantages of thier well known wheat beer with the traditional Oktoberfest taste. A grainy flavour and lovely hoppiness. The feel and crispness of our wheat-based speciality with an Oktoberfest body.Stop in and try this great beer on Friday.

Thanks so much-I really appreciate all of you!
